On this page are links to other sites and documents that I have copied from various sources. Unless a document specifically says it is something I developed, it is someone else’s property.
Disclaimer: Some documents, FAA documents in particular, are available on other sites and I make no guarantees that they are current or accurate. It is your responsibility to make sure that ALL documents are correct and current.
FAA: Amateur-Built Aircraft
When I called my local FSDO to schedule a meeting, like all the books say to do, they politely told me to go to the website and all the info I needed would be there. At least a government agency is leveraging there internet prescience, right? Below are the resources and files the FAA wants us to have. I do my best to keep documents current, but it’s your job to be sure they are. They are here for convenience only.
One problem I have with the FAA’s website is the lack of a logical naming convention for files. I do have one, and files I post here use it. If you are comparing a file from this site to one on the FAA’s site, you should keep this is mind.
Airworthiness Certification for Amateur-Built Aircraft
As the title sugests this is all about getting your airworthiness certificate. The site has a link to the Plane Sense Handbook (FAA-H-8083-19A_Plane_Sense.pdf)
Amateur-Built Aircraft Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) Final Reports
2008 ARC Final Report (PDF, large document)
2006 ARC Final Report (PDF)
These reports cover several things but the most important in many respects is the use of “commercial assistance” in amateur-built aircraft. This is not so much a problem for plans or scratch built projects, but kit-built project can pesent problems.
Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits
Thispage is a blurb about “evaluated” kits, basicaly it is likely that a listed kit will approved as an amateur-built with respect to compliance with the 51% or majority rule. Here is a direct link to amateur_built_kit_listing.pdf (be sure you check currency)
Amateur-Built Aircraft Registration & Inspection
Again the name says it all. So here are the docs linked to on this page. (be sure you check currency)

Before You Build Your Own Aircraft
This page, oddly enough, tells you to call the MIDO or FSDO in your area. Where they will tell you to go… here?
Repairman Certificate for Amateur-Built Aircraft
This page tells you a little about the Repairman Certificate, however all of that info is in AC 65-23A linked to above.
